Engagement & Pre-Wedding Photoshoots

29 December 12

It seems to be becoming more and more popular for couples to look for a pre-wedding photoshoot alongside or included in their wedding photography package. The reasons behind this are varied. Some couples are just after a few romantic shots whereas others are looking for specific photos to use on wedding websites or invitations. It also provides a great opportunity to spend a relaxed couple of hours with your wedding photographer to ensure that you are comfortable posing in front of the camera. I recently put together a bespoke guest book for one couples wedding which the guests absolutely loved flicking through after they had signed it.

Whatever the reason, pre-wedding photoshoots can be tailored to your requirements and if you have a fun idea you want to try out then just let me know.

Zoe & James

22 December 12

Zoe and James got married on Remembrance Sunday at the beautiful Kingscote Barn. It's a beautiful venue with both the ceremony and reception taking place in a converted barn overlooking the gorgeous Cotswold hills. Only a few weeks prior to their wedding I had met up with Zoe and James for an engagement shoot. Even though we managed to get some lovely shots, we had to battle against the thick fog that had descended just that morning. Luckily our worst fears of bad weather on the day of the wedding were not realised. Instead we were blessed with bright sunlight and a very mild day indeed!

I started my day with them by covering Zoe's preparations alongside her mum and bridesmaids and after Zoe surprised her bridesmaids by revealing they would be travelling in a bright pink taxicab we all headed out to Kingscote Barn for the ceremony. If was a lovely relaxed day which culminated in some rather spectacular fireworks at the end of the night. Thank you Zoe and James for letting me be part of such a special day.

*NEW* CD Folios

03 August 12

Over the past few weeks I have been searching for CD folios to include with my packages. There are a number of different folios out there - leather-bound, fabric-bound, single-aperture, album-style etc but nothing was really grabbing my attention. I wanted something that was a little bit different but still special, elegant and classic.

Completely by accident I noticed that Loxley Colour had recently launced a new range of image-wrap folios. My most popular packages include a bespoke photo book and so I was intrigued to find these image-wrap folios - here was an opportunity to provide both a book and a folio in matching designs! It was also nice to see that each folio was delivered in its own keepsake box. Not wanting to jump too far ahead of myself I decided to purchase a folio in order to check the quality.

Not having ordered from Loxley before, I was expecting to wait at least a week for the folio to arrive but to my amazement it was in my possession within 72 hours of placing the order!

It really is a lovely little folio. The print quality is excellent and it is very tactile. The folio even has a concealed magnetic closure strip which is a lovely little addition.

They're a little on the pricey side compared to many of the other folios which I came across but it really is worth it for the quality and I love the fact that they are bespoke and can be designed to match the photobooks. As a consequence I'm going to be ordering a bespoke folio for each of my future weddings.

Be sure to come back soon as I have a number of weddings which I will be posting shortly. They're long overdue!

Pinterest

27 June 12

I have now added a new section to the website which links directly to my Pinterest page which has a whole mountain of ideas to help in planning your wedding. As a wedding photographer I am often faced with unique ideas that help to make weddings that little bit extra special. Often I am amazed at the individuality displayed at weddings I attend but there is also a whole wealth of ideas online which can plant a seed of inspiration when planning a wedding.

So thats why I decided to create an online pin board of inspirational ideas in the hope that it will prove useful for couples who are currently planning their weddings. And I have to admit that many of the ideas that I am pinning to the board are items or ideas that I would love to see at a wedding that I am covering so that I can photograph them for myself!

You can find the pin board here. I hope you find it useful and I would love to hear if you stumble across any other interesting or unique ideas that you think I should include.

Jo & Craig

26 May 12

It's been a little while since I last posted a wedding on the blog. I've photographed a few weddings in the last month or so but before I post those, here is one from a few months back. Jo and Craig are quite possibly the most laid-back couple I have had the pleasure of photographing. As a consequence, the whole day was relaxed and enjoyable.

Jo had asked me to arrive early enough to photograph her getting ready, a part of the day during which I like to try and be as creative with my photography as possible (and during which mirrors are normally always involved!).

The church also provided some great photo opportunities. Inside it was surprisingly light and airy making photographing with no flash a lot simpler than normal. The church doors were also a fantastic shade of blue which provided the perfect backdrop.

The reception took place at Grittleton House, a fantastic large house with an amazing staircase and large window which we took full advantage of. I particularly loved this photo which we took of Jo on the stairs, allowing the light flooding through the window to show off her beautiful dress.

All of my current wedding packages will be increasing in price as of 1st June. So if you like what you've seen on the website, drop me a line by the end of the week in order to take advantage of the current prices.
